When a student nears the end of Small-Group Reading Set 5 or approaches grade-level proficiency in SIPPS in CC PAL, specific steps are taken to ensure they can continue their practice effectively.
Educator Recommendation: Manual Reset
A pop-up notification will appear in CC PAL Insight prompting educators to reset the student’s placement. To provide the most effective reinforcement, we suggest resetting their placement back two full Small-Group Reading sets or to the middle of the SIPPS level they just completed. This allows students to access Review Mode for familiar activities, reinforcing key foundational skills, addressing common student errors and delivering customized activities that focus on each student’s individual error patterns.
Automatic Reset Logic
If an educator does not manually reset a student's placement, CC PAL will automatically apply the following resets to ensure the student continues to have engaging practice:
- Kindergarten (SIPPS Beginning): Reset to Beginning Lesson 21.
- Kindergarten (Small-Group Sets): Students finishing Set 5 will be reset to Set 3.
- Grade 1 (SIPPS Extension): Reset to Extension Lesson 16.
- Grade 1 (Small-Group Sets): Students finishing Set 5 will be reset to Set 3.
- Grades 2–12 (SIPPS Challenge): Students will automatically enter Review Mode focusing on key foundational skills from the Challenge level.
* A Note About Word Study Grades 2-5
When students reach the end of Word Study lessons in CC PAL they automatically enter Review Mode which will reinforce key foundational skills, address common student errors and deliver customized activities that focus on each student’s individual error patterns.
