To ensure students master and retain foundational literacy skills, we recommend 3–4 sessions per week. Each session should ideally last between 15 and 20 minutes.
Automatic Session Pacing & Review Mode
To maintain high engagement and prevent cognitive fatigue, CC PAL includes built-in parameters that ensure students remain aligned with teacher-led instruction. Because CC PAL is a practice-based application, these limits prevent students from advancing into practice content that has not yet been introduced in the classroom.
What happens during a session? A student’s active practice session will automatically transition into Review Mode if either of the following occurs:
- Time Limit Reached: The student completes 20 minutes of active practice.
- Lesson Completion: The student finishes their assigned full lesson in less than 20 minutes.
What is Review Mode?
Review Mode is designed to build fluency and confidence, while allowing the student to continue to engage with CC PAL if time permits. While in Review Mode:
- Students can replay activities they have recently finished.
- The app presents previously practiced content to reinforce retention.
Educator Tip
If you notice a student consistently entering Review Mode very quickly (e.g., in under 10 minutes), it may be a good time to check the CC PAL Insight app to see if their instructional placement needs to be adjusted.
