The program includes approximately 30 weeks of instruction. Use the sample yearlong schedules and sample weekly schedules in the Collaborative Literacy Implementation Overview for Leaders to help you plan.
"Tips for Managing Instructional Time" in the Instructional Support section of your Implementation Handbook helps you make the most of your instructional time when teaching the Being a Reader program.
Be sure to consider the pacing of your lessons and where time is being spent. The majority of the time should be spent giving students the opportunity to engage in new or deeper learning. Sometimes teachers find themselves spending too much time setting up the lesson, or having every student share during whole-group discussions. Fine tuning the pace of the lesson can free up valuable minutes.
