There are many variables that impact student growth. If implemented as designed, students should show accelerated growth within the SIPPS program (as compared to normed trajectories on common word level assessments).
When a student successfully completes SIPPS Beginning (55 lessons), they have accomplished the kindergarten foundational skills standards.
When a student successfully completes SIPPS Extension (40 lessons), they have accomplished the first grade foundational skills standards.
When a student successfully completes SIPPS Plus (55 lessons), they have accomplished the kindergarten + first grade foundational skills standards.
When a student successfully completes SIPPS Challenge (75 lessons), they have accomplished the second grade foundational skills standards.
Successful completion is determined by the students’ ability to demonstrate mastery on the Mastery Tests (or Progress Assessments in Challenge), along with demonstrating fluent, accurate reading of the texts associated with the SIPPS lessons.
It’s important to keep in mind that the SIPPS program is research-based and is predicated on providing differentiated instruction that allows you to leverage the corrective feedback, Analysis of Error guidance, and Instructional Self-Checks guidance in ways that will support the groups in progressing at a rate most effective for those students to achieve mastery.
