Successful completion is determined by the students’ ability to demonstrate mastery on the Mastery Tests (or Progress Assessments in Challenge), along with demonstrating fluent, accurate reading of the texts associated with the SIPPS lessons. You do not need to reassess, please use the guidance below:
If you are implementing SIPPS along with the Being a Reader program, please leverage the MTSS Guidance, found on the Learning Portal.
For first grade students who have successfully completed SIPPS Beginning, continue to SIPPS Extension (Lesson 1). Students who finish SIPPS Beginning do not need the Extension Review Lessons.
For first-grade students who have successfully completed SIPPS Extension, discontinue intervention as the students have completed the first-grade foundational skills.
For second- and third-grade students who have successfully completed SIPPS Extension, continue to SIPPS Challenge so that the students can complete the foundational skills continuum.
For students in grades 4–12 who have successfully completed SIPPS Plus, continue to SIPPS Challenge so that the students can complete the foundational skills continuum.
If after completing Challenge Level using the A or B lists you feel that your students could benefit from additional practice with polysyllabic decoding, repeat the lessons using the B or C lists.
