Pinecone Path™ is designed for the year before kindergarten. It is a yearlong program intended to build language, literacy, social, and executive functioning skills in children who are four and five years old. The program is grounded in developmentally appropriate practices and is based on the latest research in early childhood education.
The program is structured around three mutually supportive types of instruction:
1. Whole-Class Instruction (including Morning Meeting, Reading, and Vocabulary lessons)
2. Small-Group Instruction (for targeted skill development)
3. Play Center Connections (connecting learning to play and peer interaction)
Overall, the program is designed to provide comprehensive foundational support, focusing on the Big 5 Early Literacy Predictors (oral language and vocabulary, book and print awareness, alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, and writing) through a combination of developmentally appropriate whole-class lessons, targeted small-group instruction, and integrated play experiences.
