During select whole-class Reading lessons, starting at Week 3 for four weeks, kindergarten students are introduced to the high-frequency words the, and, is, I, see, a, you, me, we, are, and can. Students will need to know these words to be successful with reading the decodable texts in Set 1. We want students to begin small-group foundational skills instruction as soon as they are ready, as indicated by the placement assessment.
