The purpose of the daily greeting during the Morning or Advisory Circle is to help students build relationships, be greeted by their name and with a smile, and to signal the routine of entering the learning community. There are a variety of greetings introduced at the beginning of the year. These are designed to help students get to know one another and to have fun together. Some greetings, such as handshakes, may not work for certain restrictions that have arisen. Other greetings may be substituted for the ones in the Teacher’s Manual and favorite greetings may be repeated as often as desired. Consider the purpose as you (or your students) plan for other greetings throughout the school year.
