There are several resources to support assessment, instruction, and reflection.
The "Assessment" section in the Implementation Handbook describes the included assessments in the Being a Writer program. The "Assessment" section at the end of each Teacher's Manual includes forms and rubrics for formative and summative assessments to help you to track and evaluate your students’ progress and needs. Both of these resources come with your print materials and can also be accessed within your Digital Teacher’s Set on the Learning Portal.
Self-reflection writing rubrics are also available to help students assess their own writing. These rubrics guide students in evaluating the characteristics of strong writing and identifying areas they might need to work on. The self-assessment sheets list specific characteristics, and students can mark if they have achieved these consistently, occasionally, or if they are still working on them. Reflection questions are also included to encourage students to think about their writing strengths and areas for improvement.
Lastly, the “Being a Writer Reflection Tool” can be used by teachers for self-reflection and by school leaders and instructional coaches to identify areas needing implementation and professional learning support.
