The Letter Name Assessment identifies which students are ready to begin Being a Reader Small-Group Reading instruction and which students need additional letter name instruction. This assessment can replace Section A of the Small-Group Placement Assessment for Sets 1-5.
The Letter Name Assessment identifies students who are in need of further instruction and directs the teacher to use letter names lessons to provide small-group instruction for those students. The Letter Name Assessment can also be used in kindergarten through grade 2 as a pretest to identify students in need of letter name instruction.
