Individualized Daily Reading (IDR) is an integral part of the Being a Reader daily lesson. It is a critical time for students to practice and consolidate the skills and strategies they are learning as they read independently and receive feedback and support through one-on-one teacher conferences. We are pleased to offer IDR Libraries that include purposefully selected texts that align with the topics, themes, genres, and text types in Being a Reader lessons.
Each grade-level IDR Library includes 120 books, 60 of which are fiction and 60 of which are nonfiction. The books are organized in these categories:
-
50% of the books are on grade level
-
25% are easier (1–1.5 grades below grade level)
-
25% are challenging (1–1.5 grades above grade level)
An insert in each kit identifies the titles included and their levels. The following Lexile levels are used to determine appropriate books for each grade level kit.
