The introduction of the Teacher’s Manual includes a section entitled, “To-Do Checklist Before the School Year Starts” that details card sets that need to be copied and cut out from the reproducible blackline masters. Some lessons also include other materials that will need to be gathered.
In addition, there are some materials that are needed for all grade levels. Those include:
- Chart paper and markers
- Set of wood craft sticks (enough for class)
- Reusable name tag for each student
- Device for playing recorded music
- Clipboard for each student
- Index cards
In addition to those noted above, the following grade level specific materials are needed:
Grades K–1
- Drawing paper
- Construction paper
- Crayons or markers
- Rubber bands
- Wipe-off board for each student
- Dry erase marker for each student
- Soft cloth for erasing for each student
- Envelopes
- Soft balls, soft objects, or bean bags
- Secret Student box
- Pattern blocks or other items to match
- Interlocking cubes (grade 1 only)
- Counting objects
- String or ball of yarn
Grades 2–3
- Construction paper
- Deck of playing cards
- Pictures of people interacting or in interesting emotions (from magazines or online)
- Pictures of animals (from magazines or online)
- Small bags (brown bags or resealable bags)
- Digital photo of each student
- Envelopes
- Class set of paint swatches in matching sets of 4 (free from hardware or paint store)—Grade 3 only
Grades 4–5
- Soft ball
- Deck of playing cards
- Envelopes
- Digital photo of each student
- Pictures of people interacting or in interesting emotions (from magazines or online)
- Pictures of people working in different careers
- Pictures of animals (from magazines or online)
- Pictures of objects such as cars, housewares, furniture, sports equipment (from magazines or online)
- Class set of paint swatches in matching sets of 4 (free from hardware or paint store)
Grades 6–8
- Copy of school map for each student
- Soft ball
