The current print and digital revision of Being a Reader includes references to a Handwriting app in both the grade K and 1 Teacher's Manuals and Small-Group Teacher's Manuals.
The intention of the app was for students to use it for additional handwriting practice, but as the CCC product development and learning technology teams progressed with development, the teams realized that further testing with students in the classroom is needed before deploying it. Because the Handwriting lessons provide ample paper and pencil practice, the absence of the app will not affect instruction. In the next print and digital revision of Being a Reader, all references to the app will be removed.
Center for the Collaborative Classroom will determine at a later date whether continued development of this tool will happen in the future.
